AnthroTech Assessment
As our first assignment for ED 632, we researched the technology available to educators, students and staff at Riverbed Elementary School. We had the opportunity to sit down with a couple teachers to discuss their thoughts on the usage of technology and the culture of technology at their school. Our findings are posted here. It was interesting to talk with teachers at Riverbend Elementary School because I was able to see a trend where the integration of technology is seen as a positive thing; a means of engaging the students rather than distracting them. Other things that I learned about included the procedures for on-going maintenance, and of impact of budget cuts on the school's equipment.
I've found myself thinking a lot about ways to make learning relevant and meaningful to our students here in Alaska, it seems that technology may be an important piece of that puzzle. Furthermore, I look forward to making use of programs like GarageBand and SmartMusic in JAMM (Juneau Alaska Music Matters) classrooms across Juneau.
