As a Teacher:
I am a registered Suzuki teacher based out of Juneau, Alaska. In addition to a wide range of teaching experiences across the Yukon and Alaska, I have maintained a private strings studio since my early teenage years. With a passion for all different styles of learners, my teaching philosophy is based on kindness and student empowerment through music.
As a graduate student and member of the Juneau Quartet in Residence, my residency includes an intensive year-long internship in K-12 music classrooms across the Juneau School District. |
I spend over 35 hours a week teaching all levels of elementary students to sing, to read music, and to play Orff, string and band instruments. At the high school level, I have gained experience in band and string orchestra instruction.
The internship also includes; developing curricular units, creating digital stories, managing social media, conducting educational research, grant writing, non-profit administration and event planning.
Looking forward to the near future, I plan to continue working with children and youth, ideally as a music specialist in the public school system.
