First thing in the morning, myself and the other members of the Mendenhall Quartet gathered at Glacier Valley Elementary School to pack up 40 violins, violas, cellos and basses, along dozens of music stands.
The concert was informative, interactive, and sprinkled with comedy and arts appreciation. The audience of 500+ 5th graders and their teachers were all smiles and excitement. We played Mozart’s Overture from The Magic Flute, and accompanied the youth concerto winner, Trevar Fiscus, on Shostakovich’s Second Piano Concerto.
It was very inspiring for the students to hear a short interview with 17 year old piano soloist Trevar!
